Police on Thursday claimed that a militant was arrested in Sopore and arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.

A Joint Naka of Police, 52 RR and 177 CRPF BN was established on Seer Amargarh Road near Railway crossing Seer Sopore during checking, one suspected person jumped the Naka and fled to a nearby orchard, police said.

“Accordingly the said area was cordoned off by the Police and security forces and the suspected person was apprehended. During the search Ishfaq Ahmad Kanna son of Mohammad Shafi Kanna of Jamia-Qadeem Sopore district Baramulla, who had recently joined Let outfit was arrested,” police said.

Police said that 1 Pistol, 5 Pistol Rounds and 2 UBGL Grenades were recovered from his possession.

To this effect, a case ‘FIR No 86/2017 U/S 7/25 A’ act stands registered in Police Station Tarzoo.

The said militant according to police was part of Lashkar Module in north Kashmir.
