The firebrand Langate lawmaker, Er Rasheed on Thursday said that he is ready to join the united Hurriyat camp for the larger interests of the people of Kashmir.

Addressing a presser in Srinagar, the lawmaker said that in response to the appeal of Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani in which he asked mainstream parties to join Hurriyat, Rasheed said he offers to join Hurriyat for the larger Kashmir cause of right to self-determination.

Rasheed also lauded Geelani’s statement and said that it was of significance and relevance. He said the saner voices should respond to the honest efforts of octogenarian leader.

Welcoming the steps taken by CM Mehbooba Mufti to call on Dr Farooq Abdullah and meet other opposition leaders, Rasheed said that it is not the time to play a blame game.

He said let all the stakeholders work for a resolution of Kashmir issue and block New Delhi’s nefarious efforts aimed at changing the demography of the state by tinkering Article 35-A.

In fact, New Delhi’s designs to make Kashmiris go defensive by snatching special status needs concrete, united and strategic approach, he said.

Rasheed revealed that he is seeking an appointment with Geelani, Mirwaiz, Yaseen Malik and other pro-freedom leaders so that Geelani Sahab’s offer could be discussed with sincerity.

The Langate lawmaker said that he would like to know the modalities of owning Geelani Sahab’s offer.

“I am open to the idea of quitting even from the Assembly if Geelani Sahab has some concrete road map to offer in order to represent Kashmiris in a more compact way.”
