Police Crack Lift-Offering Gang, Settle a Blind Murder

Next time, somebody offers you  lift, be aware. You may be a target for your wallet or even you may lose your life, literally. Srinagar police has solved a blind murder case and many robbery cases by arresting three member gang that engaged in “social service” offering lift to people during late hours.

“On a tip off, a police party of Police Station Sadder Srinagar intercepted a Maruti Car bearing registration number JKOIF-7710 at TRC Srinagar which was used in different robbery cases and three persons identified as Mohammad Khalil Najar @ Yawar son of Manzoor Ahmad Najar resident of Batpora Hazratbal, Icon Parvaiz @ Majid son of Parvaiz Ahmad Mir resident of Batpora, Hazratbal and Faheem Malik son of Abdul Hamid resident of Mulfak Hazratbal boarding the vehicle were arrested,” the police spokesperson said in a statement.

During investigation it surfaced that they were involved in various robbery cases, the spoekesperson said. “Two among them alongwith another associate namely Mehrajudin Dar @ Makooda son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Maisuma Srinagar are involved in a murder case.”

On September 29, 2015, Mohammad Khalil Najar @ Yawar, Icon Parvaiz along with another associate Mehrajudin Dar @ Makooda son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Maisuma Srinagar had given lift to Mehrajudin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Kralyar Rainawari in a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JKOIT-6598 at Dalgate. “On reaching Padshahi bagh they snatched Rs 18,000 from him and strangulated him with the shoe lace and then they threw his body at Khalilul Rehman lane Sanat Nagar.”

On the evening of October 10, 2015, the arrested trio gave lift to Safu-ud-din Lisree son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Ghadi Reasi in a Maruti Car bearing registration number JKO2U-4455. “They snatched Rs.7500 and later dropped him at Sanat Nagar area.”

A day after, they again gave lift to Ghulam Nabi Bhat son of Abdul Ahad resident of Guthpora Budgam at Hyderpora in a car bearing registration number JKOIF-7710. “On reaching Tengpora Bridge they beat him resulting in severe injuries to his both the eyes. Besides, snatched his ATM Card with its code, Mobile Phone and cash Rs. 950/- and later dropped him near Barzulla Bridge.”

Further investigation led to the recovery of a Wallet containing Identity Card, driving license, documents, a rope, Tavera vehicle bearing registration number  JKOIT-6598, snatched mobile Phones, ATM Card, cash with 02 toy pistols and a sharp edge knife.
