SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Awantipora solved a theft case within 12 hours by arresting three accused persons involved in the crime and recovering the stolen vehicle from their possession.
“Police Post Reshipora received a complaint that on May 20, 2025, unknown persons had stolen an auto-rickshaw parked outside the complainant’s house at Ghat Tokina. Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 116/2025 was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was initiated,” police said.
During the course of investigation, police identified three accused persons. “They were identified as Aakhir Ahmad Wani, son of Fayaz Ahmad Wani, resident of Tengpora Tokuna; Setha Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar, and Adnan Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat, both residents of Renzipora.”
A special checkpoint was established, leading to the arrest of all three. “They were shifted to Police Station Awantipora, where they remain in custody. The stolen vehicle, an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK04D-1894, was also recovered from their possession,” police said.
Further investigation is underway.
