Police Demolish Illegal Property Linked to Pak Based LeT Handler

SRINAGAR: Anantnag Police, in coordination with the district administration, demolished an illegally constructed house and plinth at Rekha Hassanpora, reclaiming encroached state land. The property belonged to Haroon Rashid Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie, a known militant handler associated with the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), officials said on Saturday.

Haroon Rashid Ganie has been operating from Pakistan since 2018 and is accused of orchestrating militant activities aimed at destabilising national security, police said. The demolition is part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle militant networks and curb their support infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Anantnag Police will continue strict action against militant operatives and their facilitators, leaving no room for militancy in the district,” an official statement said.

The latest operation comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to crack down on militant sympathisers and their assets in Jammu and Kashmir.
