Police detained a woman from South Kashmir’s Tral town after a couple of shopkeepers lodged a complaint claiming that the accused duped them by providing fake notes of Rs 500 denominations.

Police sources told CNS that a woman from Lurgam area of Tral town was duping the shopkeepers of the area by supplying them fake currency notes and was taking necessary items in exchange of those notes.

“A couple of shopkeepers registered a complaint about the activities of the woman. We swung into action and apprehended the lady and recovered Rs 10,000 fake currency from her,” a police official said.

He said police has registered a formal complaint against the accused and matter is being thoroughly investigating.
