Seven activists of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) were detained by the police in Pinglan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district when they tried to visit the family of slain militant Mussavir Wani on Sunday.

The DeM spokesperson said that seven DeM members were on their way to Wani’s residence to express condolences with the bereaved family.

Wani was killed on Friday evening during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Kangan area of Pulwama. Wani’s funeral procession was held at Industrial Estate, Delipora in Pulwama and was attended by thousands of mourners.

A police official said the DeM activists were lodged in women police station at Srinagar after their detention.
