Police on Monday foiled a protest march outside DIG South Kashmir’s office led by AIP president Er Rasheed against Radwani killings and highhandedness of government forces in south Kashmir.

Er Rasheed detained by police when he was on way to Islamabad on July 09.

The Party spokesman Advocate Abdul Maajid Banday in a statement said that Party had planned a day-long sit-in outside DIG South’s office at Islamabad against “martial law” in south Kashmir, however, a large contingent of police detained Er Rasheed at outskirts of Pampore on way to Islamabad and took him to police station Panth Chowk.

The spokesman said that after the arrest of their president Er Rasheed volunteers tried to carry out a sit-in protest outside DC Office Islamabad but a heavy contingent of police foiled the sit-in and one dozen party activists including Dr Bari Nayak, Haji  Yousuf, Ghulam Nabi Mir and others were arrested and detained at police station Islamabad.

The spokesman while condemning the arrests alleged that there is complete police and army rule in Kashmir and masses have been left to the mercy of Army, CRPF, and Police. “Whatsoever the uncontrolled men in uniform are doing on streets of Kashmir has the complete approval of top army and police officers. The vested interests have gone deep-rooted among a section of men in uniform and they have been misleading New Delhi that the might of uniform and draconian laws can calm Kashmiris”, he said.

The spokesman further said that chocking space of even peaceful protests is not the victory of forces but the confession of guilt and added that Kashmiris will continue their peaceful struggle for resolution of Kashmir dispute.
