Police withdrew its personnel from the residence of Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Friday afternoon.

Geelani is ill since yesterday and two teams of doctors examined him at his residence.

Geelani’s family sources told Kashmir Life that the veteran separatist leader has developed severe infections in his chest. 85 years old, Geelani is also feeling trouble in his back. “He has lost nine KGs weight,” they said.

Geelani was put under house arrest soon after he arrived from New Delhi a couple of days earlier.

“As the news of illness reached the authorities, they decided to end the siege of Geelani’s residence and called back the personnel who were outside his residence to ensure his house detention,” sources said.

Geelani spent most of his days under house detention since 2010.
