JKP Trekking Expedition

Deputy Inspector General of Police Central Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat flagged off a youth trekking expedition to Pahalgam in Srinagar Friday. The trekking expedition has been organized by Srinagar police in association with Islamabad police and JKTDC to promote adventure sports among the youth of the state, a police statement said this evening.

“The 20 members of Police Youth Club, Kanitar Saderbal were selected for the 4 days trekking expedition to Pahalgam that was flagged off this morning by DIG CKR Ghulam Hassan Bhat. Srinagar police have provided trekking gears including tents, sleeping bags, trekking shoes, rain coats besides, other logistics to the 20 member trekking team,” the statement informed.

Bhat while flagging off the trekking expedition, DIG Bhat said that J&K police have organized this trekking expedition to promote adventure sports among the youth. He said that adventure sports have tremendous potential in our valley and its promotion among our youth can open a new employment avenue for them.

On this occasion SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar also provided a cash of Rs 10,000 to the team leader as a goodwill gesture.

“The SSP Srinagar advised the trekking team that they should undertake this expedition in a responsible and environment friendly manner,” the statement said.

SP Hazratbal Rayees Mohammed Bhat also attended the flagging off ceremony.
