Police foil AIP’s protest march against Kaneeza’s ‘murder’: Spokesperson

Police on Friday foiled Er Rasheed led Awami Ittehad Party’s (AIP) march against killing of teenager Kaneeza Bano, who was killed during an encounter at Lolab.

A spokesperson of AIP informed Kashmir Life that dozens of Party workers lead by Farooq Ahmad Wani and Showkat Pandith started March towards Handwara Chowk. However, police foiled the march and took few workers into custody.

“Protesters were raising slogans against security forces and said that current Govt has turned absolutely helpless.”

Party spokesperson Inam-u-Nabi has condemned the police action.

He said the current Govt has lost the moral right to govern the state and accused district administration of suppressing the genuine peaceful voice.
