Hundreds of people on Monday joined AIP’s protest march to civil secretariat against the failure of the government to take action against BJP senior leader Lal Singh for his direct threats to Kashmiri journalists.

Led by  MLA Er Rasheed protesters holding play cards and black flags in their hands assembled near Magarmal Bagh, however before the march could start, police dispersed the mob and arrested dozens and lodged them in police station Shaheed Gunj.

The AIP spokesman in a statement said “Protesters reassembled and marched towards civil secretariat seeking immediate arrest of Lal Singh, an end to state terrorism and protection to Kashmiri journalists. The protesters marched towards secretariat, however, a large contingent of Police and Para-military forces again disrupted the march and arrested dozens including Er Rasheed, Prince Parvez, Sheeban Ashaie and Mudasir  Nazir and lodged them in Police station Rajbagh.”

“Police dragged Er Rasheed ruthlessly resulting in minor injuries to few protesters and in the scuffle Er Rasheed’s clothes were torn to pieces,” the spokesman in a statement said.

Before being arrested Er Rasheed while talking to media persons questioned Governor Administration’s neutrality and intentions and said that had it been someone from the Muslim community, he would have been arrested, shamed and jailed but Lal Singh and other BJP leaders are doing everything under a well-crafted plan having the full patronage of party high command.

He said “Journalists are a voice of voiceless and for them, everything comes after their profession.

“ No one can silence their voice, whosoever it may be. The way Amit Shah talked about Jammu and Ladakh regions being discriminated is, on one hand, a Himalayan lie, but on the other hand, he has lowered his stature by trying to pitch Jammu versus Kashmir. It is evident that Army, Police, and security agencies have been given free hand to humiliate, blind and kill Kashmiris cutting across their gender and age,” said Er Rasheed in a statement.

“ Whatsoever is happening in south Kashmir should shame any civilized country but it is painful and strange that political establishment, security agencies, and Indian media are celebrating their terrorism and cowardly operations,” Er Rasheed said.

Er Rasheed appealed world community to take cognizance of atrocities on Kashmiris and said that facts are on the side of Kashmiris, as such their voice has to prevail sooner or later.
