AIP had called for a march to Mazar-e-Shuhda to pay homage to the martyrs of 1931.
Hundreds of workers and leaders of AIP including the president started their march from Rajbagh area but they were stopped by police to move forward.
When the protesters resisted, police swung into action and arrested more than twenty people including the president Er Rashid, general secretary Nazir Ahmad Malik, spokesman, Shawkat Ahmad Nadvi, Aadil Hussain, Tanveer Hussain khan and others.
