SRINAGAR

Police Tuesday foiled Employees emergency meeting and held scores of employees including Chairman Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) Abdul Qayoom Wani.

According to reports, to chalk out future strategy, different employees unions under the banner of JCC had called an emergency meeting at Agriculture Office Lal Mandi Srinagar.

Police had cordoned all the entry and exit points of the office and barred employees to participate in the meeting. “Despite strict restrictions, scores of employees managed their entry into the office. Police had locked Agriculture office and all the employees gathered in the park. As the meeting was in progress, large contingent of police appeared on scene and arrested scores of employees,” one of the employees Muhammad Afzal told CNS.

The employees leaders were detained in police station Raj Bagh. Some of the arrested employees include JCC Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, Farooq Ahmed Trali, Imtiyaz Hussain and Muhammad Ashraf.

While talking to CNS, Abdul Qayoom Wani alleged that Government is leaving no stone unturned to harass the employees. “Today’s meeting was peaceful and there was no protest. Still the government did not allow employees to hold the meeting,” Wani said adding that police action is condemnable.

Wani further said that after the opening of Darbar JCC would convene an important meeting in Jammu but before that, a meeting would be called in Srinagar to chalk out strategy for future. (CNS)
