SRINAGAR: This is in reference to our earlier press note regarding a crime incident at Kanilwan Bijbehara in which a truck driver was killed. Dead body of one militant was also recovered from the nearby area. The killed militant has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Malik, a resident of Dardsun District Kupwara, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to media on Wednesday.
According to the police records, he was affiliated with proscribed outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and had a history of crime records since 2018. He was wanted by law for his complicity in several crimes including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases were registered against him including case FIR No. 72/2018 of PS Kralpora, the spokesman said.
Initial investigation has established that he was involved in the killing of a truck driver at Kanilwan area of Bijbehara on 29-10-2019. This has established the complicity of Hizbul Mujahideen in the crime. Further investigation in the matter is in progress.
