KISHTWAR

‘Encounter Specialist Cop’ Shiv Krishan Sharma alias Sonu who was released on bail by the Sessions Court Bhaderwah on 31st of last month for his alleged role in making attempt to revive militancy in Doda and Kishtwar districts is once again in trouble after Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar directed SHO police station Kishtwar to investigate the rape charges against him (Sonu) levelled by complainant (name withheld) accusing the cop of committing rape on her, besides making a false promise of marriage with her (victim) after committing the crime.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, the complainant alleged that the accused cop who was posted in Kishtwar before his arrest by Doda police as SOG-in-charge committed repeated rape on her. She said that after committing rape on her, the accused cop took her on gun point and threatened her of dire consequences in case she (Victim) reported the matter to police.

She said that in order to cover up his crime, the accused cop also made promise of marrying her. “After sometime when I asked Sonu to marry me, instead of fulfilling his promise, he told me that he is already married,” the complainant said.

The victim in her complaint has further stated that after the arrest of the accused Sonu, she mustered courage with the hope that she will get justice.

“I approached SSP Kishtwar for registration of an FIR against him. He informed me that the accused cop is already in Doda police custody and added that the statement/custody of the accused is required for the same and assured me that he (SSP) will initiate action against the accused cop once he (Sonu) will be released from police custody,” she further said.

She said that after the release of the accused cop, she once again approached SSP Kishtwar for registration of an FIR against Sonu, but added that to her surprise, SSP Kishtwar refused to entertain her complaint.

In order to state her claims, the victim provided receipts of her complaints forward by her to SSP, DIG concerned, IGP Jammu and even to DG Police.  After hearing the complainant at length, CJM Kishtwar directed SHO Police Station Kishtwar to look into the complaint and submit the report to him on or before 18-08-2014.

When contacted senior police officials confirmed to Kashmir Life that police have received the directions from honourable court regarding investigation of rape charges against Sub Inspector Shiv Krishan Sharma alias Sonu, but refused to provide any further details with the plea that police officials are busy in finalizing the security arrangements for August 15 activities.
