Valley Shuts on August 15

SRINAGAR

Kashmir valley is observing a complete shutdown on August 15. Life in valley remained paralysed for 68th Indian Independence day. The call for shutdown has been given by separatist leaders across the forums.

Authorities have put up three tier security system in place while, reports said, undeclared curfew has been imposed in areas coming under five police stations of old city Srinagar.

CM Omar Abdullah inspected and took the salute at Bakhshi Stadium here in Srinagar. Besides other security arrangements, mobile network services have been jammed since early Friday morning.

Business and shops are closed while traffic is off the roads. Cops are seen manning streets in riot gear uniforms.
