Police recovered a huge quantity of Codeine Phosphate in Village Heff of Shopian district and arrested two persons under NDPS Act on last evening.

Police sources said that following a tip off a TATA sumo JK0 2Q 8733 was stopped at Heff Shirmal in the outskirts of the apple town of South Kashmir.

SDPO Zainapora Mumtaz Ali Bhatty while talking to Kashmir Life confirmed the recovery and arresting of two accused.

“The police party during routine night patrolling stopped a vehicle in Heff villige during the search 400 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from it and two persons were arrested,” Mumtaaz said.

The arrested have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Ahad Ganie and  Ghulam Qadir residents of Tahab Pulwama and Shahzaad Ali Ganie s/o Ali Mohammad Ganie  resident of Tahab Pulwama.

A case under FIR No.72/2014 u/s 8/21NDPS is registered in police station Zainapora and the investigation is on, police said.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zainapora Mumtaaz said that police have established a special team to nab the culprits involved in drug paddling in the district.
