Police recovers 50 lakhs old currency in Srinagar, two held

Srinagar police on Sunday have arrested two persons and recovered demonetized currency of 50 Lakhs from their possession.

The spokesman said Police Post Baghiyas has apprehended two persons during a Naka checking near Batboni Baghiyas and recovered demonetized currency of rupees 50 lacs from their possession.

These two persons were identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Ramzan Rather resident of Syedpora Rafiabad and Akeel Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad Khan resident of Kanpur U.P at present Baramulla.

Accordingly, cognizance was taken under THE SPECIFIED BANK NOTES (CESSATION OF LIABILITIES) ACT, 2017 & further investigation was taken up. These accused persons will be presented before the competent Court for judicial determination.
