Police on Tuesday has recovered the body of a murdered Kupwara goldsmith from the river in Sopore town of district Baramulla.

The body of a goldsmith from Kalaroose village of Kupwara district, who was murdered last month was recovered from a river near the bye-pass bridge in Sopore town.

The police were informed by a local fisherman who spotted the body of Tariq Ahmad Malik floating over the water near the river bank in Sopore.

An official from the police department said that the relatives of the slain have been informed by the police to collect the body of Tariq Ahmed.

Malik was the lone bread earner of the family, running a jewellery shop in Sopore town for past few years.

Earlier, police said that four persons including two brothers identified as Mohammad Ail Lara, Mohammad Sajad Lara, sons of Mohammad Afzal Lara, residents of Muslim peer-Sopore, Nayeem Ahmad Lara son of Ghulam Mohammad Lara and Ghulam Mohammad Lara son of Ghulam Qadir Lara, both residents of Ashpeer-Sopore have been arrested in connection with the murder of Malik.
