SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag have recovered a 13-year-old girl who had gone missing from the Dooru area on July 19. The accused, identified as a local labourer, has been arrested.
Police said that following initial verification, a case under FIR No. 55/2025 was registered at Police Station Dooru, and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, it emerged that the girl had been kidnapped by a labourer involved in the installation of electric poles in the area for the past three months.
A police team, supervised by SDPO Dooru and SHO Dooru, conducted searches at multiple locations including Srinagar, Sopore, and Handwara. Technical inputs led to the location and arrest of the accused in Handwara, where the girl was also recovered safely.
Police said the operation was completed within two days. The girl has been reunited with her family.
