Police Ruining Career of Downtown Youth, Says Javaid Mir

Condemning the arrests and raids by JK Police, JKLF (H) Chairman, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Tuesday said that dozens of youth from the downtown area were arrested during the police raids in recent days.

Alleging that the police are harassing youth, Mir said “oppressive measures” are going against the innocent teenagers and students.

“By arresting youth especially students the police is provoking the common people and are forcing them to come out on roads. Police in a planned way registers FIRs against the students to ruin their career and are forcing them to react,” he said.

“It looks that state has virtually started a war against Kashmiris. Army and police have intensified the search and patrolling in various parts of the valley and have formally launched a crackdown on common youth, especially students and are harassing their family members,” Mir alleged.

He said “police is conducting raids on the houses of students detaining their relatives. This is an open reflection of a state policy which is against people and is based on undemocratic and inhuman values”.
