SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested four drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs received from the public, Sopore Police launched a series of coordinated operations that led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of narcotic substances, including codeine-based syrup and brown sugar-like substances.
“In the first operation, Sopore Police arrested one Rameez Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, a resident of Adipora Sopore, along with 13 bottles of codeine-like syrup with tampered labels at Adipora Crossing. In another operation, Waseem Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, also from Adipora Sopore, was arrested at Malpora-Warpora Crossing, and brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Police said, “At Chijhama Crossing, two more individuals, Javid Ahmad Bhat, and Rayees Ahmad Baba, both residents of Marzipora were arrested while transporting codeine-based substances in a truck bearing registration number JK05E-4845. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigation is underway.”
