SRINAGAR: This year, the police in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, seized properties worth Rs 4.13 crore belonging to drug peddlers.
The police confiscated 10 properties of notorious drug peddlers across different parts of Srinagar. These properties include residential houses and vehicles.
The information was provided by officials to the District Magistrate Srinagar during a meeting addressing the drug menace.
In addition to attaching the properties, Srinagar police registered 88 cases and arrested 150 individuals involved in drug-related activities this year.
The substances seized during the year include 1.17 kg of brown sugar, 2.90 kg of heroin, 13 kg of charas, 10.16 kg of ganja, and 44.18 kg of poppy straw, cannabis, and bhung. Psychotropic substances, including 273 bottles of syrup and 2,430 capsules, were also confiscated.
The police further seized cash amounting to Rs 4,89,696, suspected to be linked to the drug trade. [KNT]
