Srinagar: A 46-year-old man was injured after allegedly thrashed by cops inside police station Utresoo in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Monday.

Wife of the inmate Bashir Ahmad Reshi told news agency that her husband was called by police station Utersoo and he appeared before police today.

“He was beaten to the pulp inside the police station and taken to PHC Shangus and was abandoned there. We were informed from the hospital and later took him to district hospital Islamabad, she said.

She said that X-ray is done on him as per doctors’ show that he has suffered serious injuries in his head and presently CT-Scan is being conducted. She said that the family has demanded action against those involved in the incident.

When contact6ed Station House Officer, Utrerso, Ateequllah he said that Bashir fell unconscious in the police station and was later taken to the hospital.

“We have taken cognizance of the incident and action as warranted under the law will be taken in the case,” he said.  (GNS)
