SRINAGAR: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, on Thursday said that the police are determined to act against those using drug proceeds to fund militancy, warning that firm legal action will follow.
Speaking to reporters during Thana Diwas at Dak Bungalow Sopore, Zaman said, “We have done well in addressing drug-related issues. We have made recoveries, arrested several accused under the PIT-NDPS Act, and are also targeting properties involved in the drug trade.”
In response to questions about the recent attachment of properties linked to terror operatives, DIG Zaman stated, “This is a necessary and lawful process, which continues as per procedure. These individuals are generating money through drugs, and we will take action against them.”
He further said that Thana Diwas is not limited to enforcement but also focuses on public engagement. “We are making efforts to interact with the public, hear their concerns, and resolve issues on the spot. For civil matters, we are coordinating with relevant departments to reduce the burden on the public,” Zaman said. (JKNS)
