Stressing the crucial importance of training in enhancing professionalism, the Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law & Order (ADGP),K. Rajendra Kumar has said that JKP is strengthening its training infrastructure to train its personnel in modern techniques of professional policing. He said that up-gradation of all police training institutions in the state is in offing and the training syllabus as per the latest requirements has also been implemented for various courses.

Rajendra was addressing the new batch of 805 trainees at Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) Sheeri Baramulla on Wednesday, whose basic recruitment training course started in the institution recently. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is sharpening the training skills of its personnel to meet the challenges posed by the anti-national elements. He said that in the present scenario the latest training in the field of professional policing, people centric, community policing, crime control, mob controlling without using lethal weapons, cyber crime, forensic science, continue relentless battle against terrorism without collateral damage, respect of human rights, no violation at any cost and upholding rule of law under the circumstances and prompt response of public complaints, has assumed much importance and have been introduced in the curricula. He said that main thrust is being laid to impart training in these subjects during the nine months of training.

During his address, the ADGP stressed upon the trainees to acquaint themselves with the latest methods of professional policing as they have to work in the field in a professional manner. He asked the officers and instructors of the institution to train the cops with the latest techniques of policing, besides making them well versant with the laws of Indian Panel Code and Police Rule. He stressed upon them to continue their efforts to bring  the institution on modern lines of training and complete the syllabus in time.

During his inspection of the training centre, he expressed his satisfaction on the working of the institution and said that due to the efforts of the principal and the staff, the institution has been making progress day by day.
On the occasion, the IGP Armed (Kashmir),Rauf-ul-Hassan also addressed the trainees.

Earlier, the Principal, Fareed Ahmed Khan, threw light on the activities of the training institution. He said that the recruits would be given training covering all areas of policing. These recruits belong to different wings of organization including 661 from Executive Police from both the regions, Armed, IRP and SDRF. He thanked the ADGP for sparing his valuable time to address the new recruits.
