SRINAGAR: Former Union Minister and Congress president in Jammu and Kashmir, Prof Saifuddin Soz has said that the political parties seeking restoration of statehood are “misrepresenting” Kashmir. He issued a statement last night.

“They conveniently forget that PM Narindra Modi and HM Amit Shah have committed before the Parliament that the statehood would be restored soon after the Delimitation process. This assurance is before the parliament of India,” Soz said in a statement. “The real issue is the demand for restoration of the autonomy enshrined in the illegally abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution of India. By all standards, the people of J&K State will continue their struggle for the restoration of the Autonomy for the state within the Constitution of India!”

Insisting that he is deeply surprised over their stand, Soz added: “Now, this section of the mainstream politicians who misinterpret restoration of the statehood, should understand that they are only duping the people of the state by referring to the Statehood!”
