With a record turnout registering 71% voting in the 1st Phase, the 2nd phase of the assembly is going to the polls on Tuesday covering 18 constituencies including  5 in Kupwara district (Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate), 4 in Kulgam (Noorabad, Kulgam, Home Shalibugh and Devsar) and 3 in Reasi district (Gulabgarh, Reasi and Gool Arnas), 3 in Udhampur district (Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar) and 3 in Poonch (Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch- Haveli).

During the 1st hour of polling, men, women and elderly people have been seen standing in queues outside polling stations to exercise their franchise.

Meanwhile, stone pelting and clashes between youth and paramilitary personnel was reported at Kaimoh village of Home-Shalibugh constituency.

The voter turnout was low in the first two hours of polling in South Kashmir including Kulgam even as people have turned up at many of the polling stations amid clashes between the youth and paramilitary troops. Situation was tense when the reports last came in.
