Severe clashes broke out between youth and armed forces with paramilitary forces resorting to aerial firing Friday afternoon in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The youth were protesting against the killing of Khalid Muzaffar Wani by army last Monday in Kamla Forests.

“Just as the Friday prayers concluded, people started marching towards the house of slain Khalid Muzaffar when they came in confrontation with forces,” an eye witness said.

They added that clashes broke out as the procession reached near Gole Masjid in the town. However, the witnesses informed, “the situation was brought under control after the use of force.”

The reports said that people went for condolences to houses of slain Khalid Wani and Yunus Ganaie.

Earlier in the day heavy deployment of forces were made in Tral to thwart protests.
