SRINAGAR: Prabhakar Jha, Chief General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has assumed charge as Regional Director of the central bank for the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Jha succeeds Chandrashekhar Azad, who has been transferred to the RBI Central Office in Mumbai.
Before taking up his new assignment, Jha was serving as Regional Director at the RBI’s Panaji office in Goa, where he represented the central bank at various financial and administrative forums.
He recently participated in the 128th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting in Goa along with state officials, with discussions focused on advancing financial inclusion initiatives.
Jha joined the RBI in 1998. He is an alumnus of St Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and holds an MBA.
His areas of professional expertise include bank supervision, foreign exchange and currency management.
