Jammu and Kashmir Government was on Monday directed to present report on civilian killings in North Kashmir’s Handwara on Tuesday.

After Governor N N Vohra’s speech, the PDP-BJP government had sought two days to present the report in the lower house of J&K Legislature when the current budget session started on May 25.

However, government has failed to present it so far. Five civilians were killed during protests against an alleged molestation bid by an army man in main Handwara Chowk min April.

Assembly witnessed uproar over Handwara Killings.

“I direct government to present report on Handwara Killings on Tuesday,” deputy speaker, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, told the treasury benches. “Either don’t promise or keep your words,” he told the government.

Gurezi implored upon government to take assembly seriously. “If you don’t take it seriously, how come you expect that Opposition will behave normally?”

Opposition lawmakers raised issue of Chain Singh. NC’s A M Sagar stood up and told Deputy Speaker that report on Handwara civilian killings too was not presented in the house.
