SRINAGAR: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a massive cloudburst that struck a remote mountain village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
“The news of several deaths due to a cloudburst in Kishtwar, Jammu-Kashmir, is extremely tragic. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the success of relief and rescue operations,” Murmu said in a post on X.

Over thirty eight people have been confirmed dead, while many remain trapped. Officials fear the toll may rise. So far, 98 people have been rescued, with 28 reported to be in critical condition
