SRINAGAR:  All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has termed the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir as extremely worrying and disturbing, saying that the large-scale additional deployment of armed forces in cities and towns has created an atmosphere of panic and insecurity among the people.

In a statement issued to the media the APHC said, the policy of arrests, raids, killings and severe human rights violations continues unabated.

Hurriyat said that according to newspaper reports, people are being subjected to regular stoppage and frisking on roads in severe cold by forces who have set up roadblocks all over the city and towns.

Hurriyat also criticized authorities’ for preventing people from offering Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar. It said the religious sentiments of the people were being hurt by these measures.

It also demanded the release of its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other political detainees languishing in various prisons in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India. It demanded immediate and unconditional release of al political prisoners.
