SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri Pandit appointed as a teacher under the Prime Minister’s special package was sacked for producing fake degree certificates. The termination order was issued on November 12, 2021.

The sacked teacher was identified as Amit Kachroo, who was posted at Government High School Pantha Chowk, in Srinagar. Son of S N Kachroo, he is basically from Kani Kadal Srinagar. Graduate, 1977 born Kachroo made an entry into the selection list in open merit.

The order posted on the Director Education, Kashmir’s official website (830-DSEK of 2021) suggest that Kachroo was appointed as a teacher on May 29, 2019. The provisional appointment was confirmed on July 19, 2019.

“The Chief Education Officer, Srinagar vide his communication No CEO/Sgr/Estt/3498 dated: 18/03/2020, reported that the marks certificate of BA Part-III of the said appointee was re-verified from the University of Jammu by the Drawing and Disbursing Officer and was found FAKE” the order states.

The pending enquiry into his conduct, the teacher was placed under suspension and attached to Directorate of School Education Kashmir with immediate effect and subsequently, SD Bhat Joint Director (SAMAGRA) was appointed as Enquiry Officer to conduct a preliminary enquiry in the matter vide this office order No. 352-DSEK of 2020 dated October 29, 2020.

The officer submitted his report on August 16, 2021, establishing that Kachroo has managed his appointment through JKSSB on basis of the fake marks sheet. In follow up to the report, the Directorate withdrew the appointment order of 2019. He was issued a show-cause notice, to which he did not respond. Finally, the Directorate sacked Kachroo with immediate effect. His selection had been made in July 2018.
