Prisoner 100

‘Prisoner Number 100’, a jail dairy, was Saturday released again at a local hotel in Srinagar.

The Jail diary has been penned down by senior woman resistance leader, Anjum Zamrooda Habib. The dairy narrates her events in Tihar Jail where she was imprisoned for five years.

Deputy of Hurriyat octogenarian Syed Ali Geelani: Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, journalist Dr Zafar Ul Islam Khan and JKLF vice Chairperson, Bashir Ahmad Bhat released the new edition of the book along with its author.

The book, originally written in Urdu, was translated in English by New Delhi based Zubaan Publications.

The new edition of the book comes in Hindi version, as well, published by Dr Zafar Ul Islam headed Pharoas Media and Publishing House.

In his address, Dr Zafar Ul Islam Khan said that the Kashmiris need to document their tragedies “so that world comes to know about it”. Khan also edits fortnightly, The Milli Gazette. He also offered his help in publishing such books.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai while congratulating Zamrooda for writing down such heartening tale of imprisonment lamented, “it is very saddening that out poets, writers don’t do justice to Kashmir cause.”

Bashir Ahmad Bhat in his address implored upon resistance leadership to keep track of events happening in Kashmir and lead it to conclusion.
