SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, on Wednesday constituted a four-member committee to investigate the alleged case of a pregnant woman delivering on the roadside in the Kalaroos area of the district.

Sudan, in an order, said that a video clip showing the delivery of a pregnant lady on the roadside at Kalaroos was circulated on social media on Wednesday.

Allegations have been levelled against concerned departments for maintaining a lackadaisical approach towards ensuring timely snow clearance and provision of necessary health services, the order reads.

Taking cognisance of the allegations and to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the unfortunate situation and to determine responsibility for any negligence, a three-member committee headed by Sub-divisional Magistrate Lolab has been constituted to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the incident.

Among the other members of the Committe include Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara; Tehsildar Kupwara and ARA of DC Office Kupwara. The committee has been asked to furnish a factual report within the next seven days. (GNS)
