Prof Neelofar Khan has taken over as the first woman Dean College Development Council (DCDC) of the University of Kashmir. She replaced Prof GM Shah whose term as DCDC ended.

Prof Neelofar, who has served the University in various capacities, holds the distinction of being the varsity’s first woman Dean Students Welfare.

A doctorate in Home Sciences from the University, Prof Neelofar has been a two-time member of the University Council, the varsity’s highest decision-making body. She has also served as Dean, Applied Sciences and Technology, Head of Home Sciences Department, Director of Women’s Studies Centre at the University of Kashmir and has been a member of many prestigious associations including the Home Science Association of India (HSAI), Nutrition Society of India (NSI), National Alliance of Women’s Organization (NAWO) and All Indian Women’s Association (IWA).

Meanwhile, Prof Fayaz Ahmad from Department of Zoology has taken over as new Dean Students Welfare of the University of Kashmir. He replaced Prof Neelofar Khan.

Prof Fayaz has served the University as Director of the Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) and has been a fellow of the Zoological Society of India, Life Member of Indian Science Congress Association, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Sciences, Indian Society for Parasitology and Inland Fisheries Society of India. He has also been an Editorial Advisory Member of the National Journal of Life Sciences and the Journal of Oriental Science.

Meanwhile, Prof GM Bhat has taken over as Dean of Applied Sciences and Technology and Prof Arif Wani has taken over as Dean, Faculty of Engineering.
