SRINAGAR: Renowned historian Professor Rattan Lal Hangloo has been appointed as the Chief Representative for India by Noble International University, Toronto, Canada. Hailing from Hangalgund Breng Kokernag in Kashmir, Prof Hangloo completed his post-graduation in History from Kashmir University and has risen through academia with remarkable dedication.

With nearly 40 years of service at Hyderabad Central University, Prof Hangloo guided numerous Ph.D. scholars who now hold key positions both in India and internationally. His distinguished career includes prestigious fellowships from Germany’s DAAD, France’s Maison de Sciences, and the US Fulbright for his research on trade networks and South Asian history.
A prolific author, Prof Hangloo’s books, particularly Kashmir Before the Accession and After, have earned acclaim worldwide, including ranking as a bestseller on Amazon. As a member of the United Nations Academic Council for Asia and Africa, his scholarship has greatly contributed to the understanding of Kashmir and medieval India.

Known for his steadfast secular viewpoints, Prof Hangloo has consistently advocated for the interests of Kashmiris and marginalized communities, even during the most challenging periods in Kashmir’s history. He has also served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Kalyani, West Bengal, and Allahabad University.
