Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Thursday said that prolonging imprisonment of political leaders, activists and other people and disregarding even the court orders is highly condemnable.
In a statement issued here, while condemning the prolonging incarceration of JKLF ailing leaders advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt and Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi both of whom were released on bail by court recently but have again been arrested by police and kept at police station Rajbagh and Bemina respectively, JKLF chairman said that thousands of young and old are being intimidated in various jails and police stations and everything is done to prolong their incarceration and terrorize their families.
While condemning the slapping 2nd PSA on Muhammad Jamal Dar of Trehgam Kupwara, JKLF chairman said that his PSA was quashed recently but police booked him under another PSA and has sent him to Udhampur Jail.
“His mother who was looking after his case and she breathed her last yesterday and despite her sad demise authorities have not released him yet.”
Malik, while terming this as a glaring example of “brutality”, said that thousands of young and old are being kept in jails and police stations and their families are being terrorized by police and authorities which is highly condemnable.
Malik also condemned the arrest of JKLF district president Baramulla Abdul Rashid Magloo who was arrested by police yesterday and has been lodged at police station Kreeri.
He said that a man who recently met an accident has been put behind bars is highly condemnable. He also condemned the prolonged incarceration of JKLF leaders and activists.
The JKLF chief appealed ICRC and other human rights organizations to take a serious note of this inhuman behavior meted out to Kashmiri inmates and take necessary steps to safeguard their lives.
Meanwhile JKLF chairman expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of senior journalist Arshid Ahmad Malik and expressed his heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family. While praying for his heavenly abode, JKLF chairman also prayed for Sabr I Jameel to his family.
