Kashmir Life is going public about the properties of the top state officials on day-to-day basis so that the common masses can have information about the officials who govern them. Mohammad Iqbal Khanday is the incumbent Financial Commissioner (FC) to J&K. He is from the JK 1978 (IAS) batch and was appointed as FC in November 2012 with effect from 2010.
Khanday was born on November 11, 1955 and has done B.A (English).
A resident of Islamabad Kashmir, Khanday has served the state of Jammu and Kashmir in various capacities including principal secretary to government- Finance, Principal Secretary to Government, Planning and Development Department, Forest Department, Agriculture Department and Director General Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development. He also served as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister from 2002 to 2004.
Khanday was in news for his alleged involvement in the infamous sex scandal of J&K but later he was acquitted of all charges. But he remained suspended from June 29, 2006 to March 18, 2007 as well but later he was considered to be on duty in terms of Rule 5(B) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
