Pro-Rohingya protests erupted at several places across Kashmir after congregational Friday prayers.

Reports from various places in Srinagar city and other district headquarters said that pro-Rohingya rallies were taken out to protest against the persecution of Muslims in Myanmar and to show solidarity with them.

In Srinagar, the reports of protests came from Maisuma where JKLF activists took out a protest march.

Carrying banners, the activists raised slogans in favour of Muslims and Rohingya in particular.

At ‘The Bund’ Shit’te brethren assembled outside a mosque where they were addressed by ‘Aga’.

He condemned the atrocities committed on the ‘innocent’ Muslims of Burma and said that the Muslims of Kashmir are with them in this hour of grief.

Many smaller groups assembled in Press Enclave in Srinagar and raised slogans in favour of Muslims and Rohingya in particular.

In Islamabad, people took out a rally from Lal chowk to protests against the atrocious Myanmar government and express solidarity with the Rohingya.

The protesters, eyewitnesses said, raised pro-Islam and anti-America slogans and tried to proceed with the march on main roads.

However, police intercepted the protesters triggering clashes, witnesses said. Six policemen including two officers were injured during the clashes.

Reports said that at people in Pampore assembled at Namblabal Chowk and marched towards the highway at Drangbal to express solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

The protestors carrying banners and placards raised slogans against the Myanmar Government and international human rights organisations, witness said. The protest at Pampore was organised by Falah Behbud Committee.

A protest rally was also held in Tral town soon after prayers at Khankah- e-Faiz Tral and also at Jamia Masjid Khanmoh.

The participants raised slogans against the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Reports of protests also came from parts of Downtown Srinagar.
