Six days of protests and clashes came to an end yesterday when normalcy returned to South Kashmir parts. People were protesting the death of Kashmiri trucker, Zahid Rasool Bhat.
However, early Sunday, massive protests broke out in Islamabad district against the detention of local youth.
Women lead the protests demonstrations in Mattan Chowk.
Reports reaching here said, “people are demanding release of youth who were arrested in last week.” “Burqa clad women joined the sit-in at Mattan Chowk and raised slogans in favour of Azaadi,” the witnesses said.
A local from the area said that Micro Phones and loud speakers were used to invite people for the demonstration.
Despite chill across Kashmir due to snowfall in upper reaches and continuous rainfall in plains, women along with youth and elderly held protests and demanded immediate release of the arrested youth.
