Clashes amid protests erupted in Maisuma area of Srinagar city after a braid of a woman was cut by unknown persons Monday afternoon.
Reports said that the residents of the locality hit roads and started protesting against the braid chopping incident. The protesters also blocked the movement of the traffic.
Police swung into action and used tearsmoke shells to disperse the protesters. The traffic movement was also restored.
Earlier, some youth of the area tried to enforce shutdown in the city centre by yelling at shopkeepers to down their shutters.
