Clashes erupted in Sopore town after Friday prayers as forces used force to disperse the civilian protesters who were demanding action against those who injured nine-year-old boy last week while stone pelting clashes were going on in the area.
Reports said that the protesters included the family members of the injured minor, Mursaleen, who was wounded badly after a stone hit him in his head.
Protesters demanded that police should identify the culprits and book them.
Police fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters, eyewitnesses said. “Youth in scores took to streets hurling stones on forces resulting in intense clashes.”
The stone pelting clashes were going on in the area when the last reports came in.
