A Bank employee from Raj Bagh Srinagar was killed while two others were wounded when a speedy Army vehicle rammed into an Alto car on way from Srinagar to Pulwama near Newa area Friday.

Police sources said that three persons including the driver of an Alto car (JK01AA-3037) were injured when a Casspir vehicle of Army rammed into it at Newa in the district. The wounded were shifted to SKIMS for advanced treatment, however one of the injured Sajid Mushtaq of Kursoo Raj Bagh succumbed to his injuries.

The accident sparked anti-Army protest in the area that disrupted normal life. Reports said that agitated protesters were pacified by police with the assurance that action will be taken against the erring Army driver under law.

Doctors attending the injured identified them as Sabir Hasan of Bemina and Adil Maqbool of Bag-e-Mehtab.

DSP Headquarter Pulwama said that the army driver surrendered before the police along with his vehicle. “The vehicle lies in police station and investigation has been started to ascertain the facts,” he said. (CNS)
