Army Wednesday said that one militant was killed in Pulwama encounter.
In a statement issued here this afternoon, Srinagar based defence spokesperson said that “one militant was today gunned down in an encounter with the joint team of Army, CRPF and JKP in Pulwama district”.
“The forces, yesterday, launched an operation in Naiyuna Village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on receiving information about the presence of some militants,” the spokesperson said, “the forces closed in, they drew heavy volume of fire from the militants hiding in the Village leading to a fierce gun battle which resulted in the elimination of one militant , identified as Shariq Ahmad Bhat age 20 years S/O Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Pulwama.”
“One AK 47 Rifle and some other war like stores have been recovered from the encounter site,” the statement added.
Earlier, a 25-year-old youth was killed in alleged forces action.
Identified as Parvaiz Ahmad from the Nina village, the injured youth is said to have succumbed to his injuries at a local health centre.
