With the death of four more youth, the death toll of civilians has risen to six in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

Sources said that four more civilians succumbed to injuries taking the civilian death toll to six so far. They were injured in government forces action near the site of the gunfight at Sirnoo area.

The deceased have been identified as Liyaqat Dar of Parigam, Suhail Ahmad of Ballow, Shahbaaz of Monghama, Pulwama. The body of sixth youth lying in the hospital is yet to be identified.

Earlier, three militants were killed and two soldiers injured in the gunfight while two civilians identified as Amir Ahmad Paul and Abid Hussain Lone were killed and thirteen others suffered injuries in the clashes that erupted near the site of the gunfight in Kharpora Sirnoo.

On today early morning, a joint team of army’s 55RR, SOG and 182/183 BN CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at in Kharpora Sirnoo, which resulted into the encounter.

When reports last came in the search operation amid clashes between the protesters and government forces were going on.
