The civilian death toll in clashes near a gunfight site in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday mounted to seven as one more civilian succumbed to their injuries.

Sources said that one more civilian succumbed to injuries taking the civilian death toll to seven so far. They were injured in government forces action near the site of the gunfight at Sirnoo area.

The deceased have been identified as Liyaqat Dar of Parigam, Suhail Ahmad of Ballow, Shahbaaz of Monghama, Amir Ahmad Paul a resident of Ashmander , Tauseef Ahmad Mir of Chersoo, Murtaza Ahmad Bhat of Prichoo and Abid Hussain Lone Pulwama.

Earlier, three militants were killed and two soldiers injured in the gunfight and several civilians were injured in clashes.

On today early morning, a joint team of army’s 55RR, SOG and 182/183 BN CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at in Kharpora Sirnoo, which resulted into the encounter.

When reports last came in the search operation amid clashes between the protesters and government forces were going on.
