The train service has been suspended in the Kashmir valley for security reasons following the killing of militants and civilians in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

All trains between Srinagar and Banihal in Jammu region via South Kashmir and Srinagar Baramulla in the north remained suspended for security reasons, an official said.

He said the service will be resumed only after they get a fresh advisory from the authorities.

The decision to suspend the train service was taken on the advice of local authorities and police in view of apprehension of violence.

Earlier, three militants were killed and two army men were injured in a gunfight with government forces in Kharpora Sirnoo while two civilians were also killed in the forces’ action.
